Three Tips When Traveling to Cabo

Los Cabos remains one of the most exclusive vacation destinations for the ultra-rich and famous. Just visit one of the five-star restaurants in the resort town and you’re almost guaranteed to spot either a celebrity or a politician. If you’re yearning for a taste of the high life, we’ve outlined these three tips when traveling to this sunny destination.

Find The Right Beach

It’s always important to do your research before jetting off to any location – especially Los Cabos. Considering the town is situated at the tip of the Baja California Peninsula, it’s surrounded by the ocean on three sides – so there are plenty of beaches to choose from. But not all beaches are the same, as some are more suited for swimming and snorkeling, while others are meant specifically for surfing.

For those looking to cool off in the warm azure waters, head to Tequila Cove. As the name suggests, this beach is a cove so the rock formations on the edge protect it from the harsh waves and riptides. It’s suitable for swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, and scuba diving. Just don’t forget your sunscreen! For thrill seekers and adventurers, we suggest checking out El Tule Beach, which is just a 30-minute drive from a handful of Elegant Mexico’s luxury villas. And with the potential to experience six-foot waves, it’s the perfect beach for surfing enthusiasts.

Discover the Best Restaurants

Instead of indulging in fast food during your vacation, we highly recommend exploring Los Cabos’ culinary scene. Over the last 20 years, several five-star restaurants have opened near the downtown area to cater to the taste of the rich and famous.

First on your list should be a reservation at Bajo La Luna, which serves the best seafood in the region. Ask to be seated in the hidden garden and order the seared ahi tuna. Marinated in a special sesame and garlic sauce, the dish is then seared to mouthwatering perfection on the grill.

If you’re not a fan of seafood, there are number of other offerings on the menu including filet mignon and chipotle chicken. Just note that at all restaurants and bars, you should order bottled water, as the water treatment differs in Mexico compared to the US.

Check Out the Local Art Scene

Simply take a stroll around parts of downtown Los Cabos and you’ll spot unique and engaging street art that adds character to the seaside resort. In the 90s, artists used public spaces to create exquisite and detailed murals that reflect everyday life in the region. While this form of art was initially shunned and looked upon as graffiti, it’s now recognized as an integral part of the cultural landscape of the region. There’s also a walking tour organized every Thursday evening called the San José Art Walk, which is the perfect introduction for the novice art enthusiast.

For a more refined art experience, head to the Hotel El Ganzo, which always has an artist in residence. Starting on March 31st, artist Santiago Merino’s work will be showcased, which combines 20th-century paintings with a modern touch. If you’re planning on heading to Los Cabos in the near future, opt to stay in a luxury villa courtesy of Elegant Mexico.
