Pop quiz: Have you ever golfed so close to the ocean you could see through the clear blue waters right from the tee box? How about in a desert setting surrounded by majestic cacti? Or on a cliffside as calm ocean waters allow you to concentrate on the perfect shot? Whether or not you answered or to these questions, it hard to dispute the fact that Mexico offers not only some of the worlds finest golfing experiences, with many of them situated smack dab in the middle of Los Cabos magnificent vistas. Get to know these four Los Cabos golf courses and tee off from them next time you stay at one of our villas:

Palmilla Golf Club

One thing common to many of Los Cabos golf courses is that they were designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus. Known to his friends in jest, of course as the guy who ruined Cabo, Nicklaus Design golf courses have, in fact, been an economic boon and helped the sport become a major attraction along the southern edge of Baja Peninsula. And the one that started it all? The Palmilla Golf Club, Nicklaus first course near San Jos del Cabo, which opened in 1992. Named one of Golf Digest Best Golf Resorts in Mexico and Central America in April 2018 (along with many others on this list), all 3,527 yards of Pamilla combine everything breathtaking about the region into one: desert and mountain landscapes, views of the ocean and the Sea of Cortez, lush foliage surrounding the greens and even a 600-foot elevation climb within the front-nine.

Quivira Golf Club

Yet another marvel of both Nicklaus Design and Los Cabos golf scene, Quivira has made the cut on several of Golf Digest top lists, including the World 100 Greatest Golf Courses. The real treat for golf enthusiasts on this 18-hole, 7,139-yard masterpiece is Holes 5 and 6, which are nestled away in luxurious cliffside overlooking the sea. As you look out over the natural rock inclines, you feel like you are in your own private paradise as you make your approach on fairways that are as beautiful as they are challenging. Along the way, you will encounter magnificent arroyos, cacti and dunes, making this desert terrain one of the most unique golfing experiences you will ever enjoy.

Cabo Del Sol Ocean Course

Jack Nicklaus strikes again with Cabo Del Sol, opened in 1994 and described by the man himself as the best piece of golf property in the world. Sitting right along the edge of the Pacific Ocean on six of its 18 holes, this course is your ticket to a golf experience that also lets you bask in the sun-soaked shorelines right at your side. Golfers will have the most fun on the ocean course signature 17th hole, which features 175 yards of beach that must be cleared to safely sit on the green. (Though, given Cabo Del Sol natural beauty, we can understand if it’s tempting to purposely put your ball in the sand, along with, say, a beach umbrella¦) Like it previously mentioned counterparts, Cabo Del Sol has also received accolades from Golf Digest and Golf Magazine as one of the top courses in the world.

Puerto Los Cabos Golf Club

Boasting a championship-caliber level of play over 27 holes, Puerto Los Cabos is one of the most challenging and interesting golf courses Los Cabos has to offer. Located just outside of San Jos del Cabo, this club is actually divided into two courses in the shadow of the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains, each providing golfers with something unique. It features the Nicklaus I and II courses, more of the legendary golfer handiwork, as well as the Norman I, designed by the great Australian ever to hit the links, Greg Norman. Hugged by sand dunes around the length of the near 2,000-acre plot of land on which Puerto Los Cabos sit, nothing makes a perfect afternoon quite like sinking a putt, looking up and admiring the picturesque Sea of Cortez in your sight. Amateurs and professionals alike agree that golfing in Los Cabos is not just one of the perks of visiting Mexico it’s one of the main reasons to visit.
